Drone with Thermal Camera

Thermal imagery has been used by various organisations including the emergency services for many years. From a commercial drone it is easy to see imagery that would have only previously been seen by manned aircraft and therefore a very expensive option for industrial inspection not to mention the possible impact on public safety.

The thermal camera captures radiometric data that can be interrogated to view exact temperature measurements and viewed in colour to show a range of temperatures.

The drone thermal imaging taken by experienced drone operators can be used to add a third dimension to the imagery taken for inspections the view below shows the small crack in a bridge shown by both a standard RGB camera and a thermal camera taken simultaneously confirming water damage and ingress.

This image was used by electricity engineers police to confirm the presence of unnatural heat sources in this case a pole top fault and to monitor production on a solar array.
